Young People's Theatre will present the co-world premiere with Polka Theatre (England) and Clwyd Theatr Cymru Theatre for Young People (Wales) of Kevin Dyer's latest childhood adventure Minotaur. This modern spin on an ancient myth will be presented on the Mainstage from March 24 to April 13, opening on March 27.

Award-winning British playwright Kevin Dyer fuses Greek mythology with the present to create a high-stakes, time-shifting adventure story. Freddie, a 12 year-old boy, receives urgent, cryptic text messages from his soldier Dad in an unnamed, war-torn country. While he attempts to decipher these, an Ogre and the Queen of Minos appear in his backyard, dragging him into the past in the role of Theseus, whose destiny is to slay the Minotaur and save his father, King Aegeus. Freddie embarks on an incredible quest, believing it is the only way he can save his Dad, who is trapped in a foreign war with no way out.

A recipient of a Writers' Guild of Great Britain award for Best Play for Children and Young People for The Monster Under the Bed, (presented at YPT in 2010), Kevin Dyer is the Associate Writer at Action Transport Theatre. A prolific writer, he has penned over 50 commissioned plays. He works as a dramaturg and leads inspirational sessions for writers and people who want to write.
