On Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 7:30 p.m., The York Symphony Orchestra will present a special water-themed performance celebrating the landmark 200th anniversary of the York Water Company. "All Rivers Run to the Sea" is the fifth and final performance in the 2015-2016 classical series. During the performance, audience members will be treated to a first look at the 2016-2017 season.

"We are very excited to be part of such a landmark celebration of York's heritage," said Lawrence Golan, music director and conductor of the York Symphony Orchestra. "The water-inspired selections for this performance include one of the most beloved waltzes of all time and an epic sea-themed symphony that features The York Symphony Chorus."

"All Rivers Run to the Sea" will take the audience on a musical journey down the Vltava River from its source in the Bohemian Forest to the city of Prague with Smetana's The Moldau. Next, they'll take a trip On the Beautiful Blue Danube, one of the most widely-recognized waltzes of all time. The concert concludes with Vaughan Williams' Symphony No. 1 "A Sea Symphony" with performances by the York Symphony Chorus and guest soloists-soprano Alison Buchanan and baritone, Marcus Deloach.

The audience will also enjoy a special first-look at the Orchestra's plans for the 2016-2017 season and have the opportunity to be the first to buy subscription packages for the season.

"We will be welcoming two world-renowned vocal soloists on the stage to join the York Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in an epic conclusion to our nature-themed 2015-16 year," said Golan. "We are also very eager to share with the audience an advanced copy of the YSO's 2016-2017 season brochure."

The York Symphony Orchestra will present "All Rivers Run to the Sea" Saturday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center in York. Single tickets starting at $9 for adults and $5 for students are available online at www.yorksymphony.org and by calling 717-846-1111.
