On Family Day, February 20, Young People's Theatre (YPT) will present not one but TWO very special productions, providing fun for the entire family. Roald Dahl's children's classic James and the Giant Peach for ages 6 and up features music from the Oscar/Tony/Emmy-nominated and 2017 Golden Globe Award-winning songwriting team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Scenes From a Tree is an enchanting tale for tiny tots about growing up and putting down roots produced by Montreal's Des mots de d'la dynamite. All this plus FREE craft activities themed to the shows!

On the Mainstage at 2:30pm: James and the Giant Peach
The rollicking musical version of the beloved children's classic returns to YPT following a sold-out run in 2014. Orphaned and taken in by the only relatives he has - his outrageously overbearing aunts - James is treated more like low-paid help than family. When he's ordered to chop down their scraggly old fruit tree, he accidentally grows the world's largest peach containing the biggest insects ever seen - and so begins an adventure of enormous proportions! Joined by a collection of entomological misfits, James discovers thaT Loving families are built in many forms. Don't miss the adventure as he and his delightfully disparate chosen family set off for their perilous, peachy escape towards happiness. And be sure to look for the giant peach on YPT's roof!

In the Studio at 11am & 2pm: Scenes From a Tree
Following the massive success of its show for babies (One Thing Leads to Another), YPT presentsScenes From a Tree, an award-winning production especially designed for children 18 months to 4 years of age. Inspired by the changing of the seasons, this delightful show uses stories, songs and nursery rhymes to draw connections between the life-cycle of the natural world and our own feelings about growing up and putting down roots. Three tree-like fairies weave a visual landscape out of wool and knit work, cleverly forming the backdrop of the piece. Scenes From a Tree is a celebration of the passage of time and the ties that bind us all together.
