59E59 Theaters welcomes Scripts Up! with the NYC premiere of YEARS OF SKY, written by Barbara Blatner and directed by Christopher Scott. YEARS OF SKY begins performances tonight, February 21 for a limited engagement through Sunday, March 10.

Press opening is Wednesday, February 27 at 7:30 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30 PM; Friday and Saturday at 8:30 PM; and Sunday at 3:30 PM. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Tickets are $18 ($12.60 for 59E59 Members). History intervenes when then-teenagers David and Stace plan to spend their first night together after watching President Kennedy's motorcade ride through Dallas. Thirty years later, can this once idealistic young couple rekindle their spark? Or do three decades of American politics stand in their way? This striking drama, which follows the 30-year love affair between a mixed race couple, makes its NYC premiere during the year that marks the 50th Anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's death.

Actor Sheldon Best, who received an AUDELCO nomination for his performance in Freed, returns to 59E59 in this provocative new play. The cast also features Todd Davis, Gano Grills (National Black Theatre of Harlem and the New Federal Theater), Amy Hargreaves (Homeland on Showtime), and Auden Thornton (Three Sisters, dir Daniel Fish).

The design team features Rebecca Phillips (set design), Joyce Liao (lighting design), and Sarah Rachel Jones (sound design). Casting is by Judy Henderson.

Christopher Scott's (director) directing experience includes TV specials, many Off Broadway productions (among them My Secret Garden, For Lovers Only, Golf: the Musical and The Big Bang) and new plays for The Baruch Performing Arts Center, The NYC Fringe Festival, Theatreworks/USA, NYMF and Scripts Up! He is a member of the Playwright/Director's Workshop at the Actor's Studio, an Artistic Associate with Amas Musical Theatre - and teaches at NYU/CAP21, Baruch College and The Michael Howard Studio. Barbara Blatner (playwright) is a playwright, poet, and composer. Her one-act play, Advances in Communication, was seen in Pulse Ensemble's Courage Festival in June. Other plays have been produced by the Annual Boston Theatre Marathon, Cleveland Public Theatre, as well as a verse play on radio's New Voice and NPR. Quarterly Books, Baker's Plays and Intertext Press have published collections of her verse. Ms. Blatner teaches at Yeshiva University.
