Black Opal announced Triveni Ravi as the winner of its 2013 True Beauty Model Search. Chosen from over 400 applicants and 3 finalists, 19-year-old Ravi is a nursing student from Los Angeles, California.

Selected by a prestigious panel of judges from the beauty and entertainment fields; all applicants were evaluated based on essays, community service involvement, educational aspiration and a photo of themselves representing Black Opal's True Beauty. The panel of judges included such luminaries from the beauty and entertainment worlds: singer/songwriter and VH1's Love & Hip Hop cast member and R&B singer Olivia; Celebrity Make-up artist Frank Guyton; Noted and board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Cheryl Burgess; Celebrity Hairstylist Eric Bland; Style Network's Chicagolicious cast member Valencia; and Celebrity Fashion Stylist Andre Austin.

A native of Perth, Australia, Ravi, now calls Los Angeles, California her "home away from home" as she is pursuing a degree in nursing. Introduced to Black Opal by her Mother, Triveni has become a loyal follower of the brand as it has shades that complement the richness of her Indian skin tone. "It is truly an Honor to be selected as the first non-African American face of Black Opal. Black Opal products have been staples in my home since childhood and I especially love the new vivid cosmetic colors and Even True skincare products they recently launched. As a young woman of color, I hope to serve as a beauty inspiration to all Women and show that Black Opal products work on various skin tones and can be used by women from all cultures."

As the grand prize winner, Ravi will be featured in Black Opal's marketing material worldwide. She received an all-expense paid trip to New York City and a professional photo shoot, complete with celebrity hair, fashion and makeup styling. Additionally, Ravi will receive a year's supply of Black Opal skincare and cosmetics.

"We are excited that Triveni was selected as the 2013 face of Black Opal," said Maya Brown, Senior Marketing Director. "The selection process was very difficult this year as we had 3 finalists to choose from but Triveni emerged the victor as a result of her engaging personality and diverse beauty. She not only represents today's multicultural beauty but serves as an inspiration through her volunteerism and educational excellence."

In addition to the Grand Prize, scholarship awards totaling $15,500 was given to nine young women chosen by online fan voting. Each recipient will receive complimentary Black Opal skincare and cosmetics products and may also be given the opportunity to be featured in Black Opal worldwide marketing materials.
