The official description of the NEWSIES tour backstage tour package is as follows: "Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
You and a guest will feel as if you are "King Of New York" when you are VIP's at Broadway's Smash Hit Tony Award Winning Musical NEWSIES, currently on tour in North America.
Bid now to sit in the Producer's seats for an upcoming performance of your choice (between August 18 - October 11, 2015).
As Pulitzer says...."If it's not in the papers, it never happened!" So they want to make sure you remember this experience with your very own copy of "The Sun" where you're "front page news, above the fold. Oh, yes. Above the fold!"
After the show, join the Newsboys backstage for your exclusive photo & VIP tour lead by Original Broadway Cast Member Kevin Carolan (Roosevelt / Fight Captain) and NEWSIES's very own Big Voiced, Open-Armed Diva Angela Grovey (Medda Larkin).
Your experience wouldn't be complete without your very own NEWSIES tote bag & cap, filled with show memorabilia including an autographed poster and prop newspaper used onstage during "Seize The Day".
Disney's NEWSIES is Broadway's Smash Hit Musical which won the 2012 Tony Award® for Best Score and Best Choreography. NEWSIES features a Tony Award-winning score with music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman and a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. It is produced by Disney Theatrical Productions. The musical is directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli. Set in New York City at the turn of the century, NEWSIES, according to press notes, is the "rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged 'newsies,' who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys' expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what's right.
When it opened on March 29, 2012 NEWSIES was intended for a Broadway run of just 101 performances. The show's fiercely devoted fans had other ideas, however; they propelled the show to a run of 1005 performances, attendance of more than 1 million and a gross of over $100M.
While on Broadway, NEWSIES set and broke seven Nederlander Theatre house records and became the highest-grossing show from the 2011-12 Broadway season. The show received 23 major theatrical nominations - including eight Tony Award nods - and won Tony®, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Score and Choreography."
Current and upcoming cities include: Toronto, Canada, now through August 30; Madison, WI, September 15-20; Grand Rapids, MI, September 22-27; and Buffalo, NY, September 29-October 4.
