The Wick Theatre announced a change in the line-up for the upcoming 2017-2018 production season. An unexpected issue with production rights has forced the company to replace A Wonderful Life with She Loves Me.

"It's always a gamble when you're negotiating with publishers so far in advance and, of course, we had hoped this would play out differently for us," Managing Executive Producer Marilynn A. Wick stated. "While I regret the change, I am confident our subscribers will find this delightful musical to be an excellent substitution. It was also one of the last productions led by the late Michael Hall of the Caldwell Theatre Company, so we found it a good opportunity to honor his legacy." Wick subscribers will have no disruption with their tickets and seat selections with tickets easily transferring to the new production.

An intimate and touching production, featuring music by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof) and book by Joe Masteroff (Cabaret), She Loves Me was nominated for five Tony Awards in 1964. The 1993 Broadway revival won the Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical and the 1994 Critics Circle Award for Best Musical. The most recent revival was in 2016 was heralded by audiences and critics alike, and The Wick is among the first in the nation to be granted permission for this revival production, which will be led by veteran director Norb Joerder.

Considered by many to be the most charming musical ever written, She Loves Me is a warm romantic comedy with an endearing innocence and a touch of old world elegance. Set in a 1930s European perfumery, we meet shop clerks, Amalia and Georg, who, more often than not, don't see eye-to-eye. After both respond to a "lonely hearts advertisement" in the newspaper, they now live for the love letters that they exchange, but the identity of their admirers remains unknown. Join Amalia and Georg to discover the identity of their true loves... and of all the twists and turns along the way! It's a perfect, family-friendly way to celebrate the holidays.

She Loves Me opens to previews on Friday, November 24 with the gala opening night on November 25th. The production continues through December 23rd. The rest of the 2017/2018 season remains as scheduled:

The Drowsy Chaperone Oct 19- Nov 12

Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Jazz Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another. Hailed by New York Magazine as "The Perfect Broadway Musical," The Drowsy Chaperone is a masterful meta-musical, poking fun at all the tropes that characterize the musical theatre genre.

Singin' in the Rain Jan 11-Feb 18

The "Greatest Movie Musical of All Time" is lovingly adapted by Broadway legends Betty Comden and Adolph Green from their original award-winning screenplay. Lauded for its iconic choreography by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, Singin' in the Rain, offers a lighthearted depiction of Hollywood in the 1920's as stars transitioned from silent films to "talkies." The perfect entertainment for any fan of the golden age of movie musicals.

Brigadoon Mar 8-April 8

One of the most intriguing and delightful aspects of a musical show is its ability to open up a whole new world to both its audience and cast. The show that does this better than any other is Brigadoon. This is a Scottish fantasy about a town that disappears into the Highland mist and returns for only one day every one hundred years. It includes Waitin' for My Dearie, I'll Go Home with Bonnie Jean, Come to Me, Bend to Me, Almost Like Being in Love, There But for You Go I, The Heather on the Hill and My Mother's Weddin' Day. This is a tribute to simplicity, true love and goodness, which is hidden from the ordinary traveler. The Lerner and Lowe musical opened on Broadway in 1947, and was adapted to film in 1951 starring Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse.

Jerry's Girls April 19-May 13

As the only composer-lyricist with the distinction of having three musicals that ran more than 1500 consecutive performances on Broadway, Jerry's Girls is an incredible homage to this prolific and talented composer. Created by Jerry Herman and Larry Alford, Jerry's Girls showcases the best songs Herman's immortal shows, including Hello Dolly!, MAME, La Cage Aux Folles and more. Songs include "It Only Takes a Moment," "Open a New Window," "Before the Parade Passes By," "The Best of Times," and an array of other classics.
