Variety reports that Well Go USA has acquired all U.S. rights to the police drama MCCANICK, one of the final film's starring the late actor Cory Monteith. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In Josh C. Waller's crime drama, Monteith plays Simon Weeks, described as "a violent and drug-addicted street hustler." The film also stars David Morse as Eugene "Mack" McCanick, a detective who is in pursuit of his nemesis.

Monteith, best known for his role as Finn Hudson on the FOX TV series "Glee," was found dead in a hotel room in Vancouver on Saturday, July 13th. He was 31 years old.

The film had its world premiere on Monday at the Toronto International Film Festival, where the actor earned positive reviews for his work. Variety's Andrew Barker noted that Moneith's work as a young street hustler, "...will be a sad grace note indicating that the star was both able and willing to expand his acting parameters."

"McCanick" will be released theatrically in early 2014.
