The Weber State University Department of Visual Arts is committed to developing art and design professionals through educational experiences based on history, theory, and practice. The department strives to help students become creative problem solvers, visually literate, and culturally and aesthetically sensitive. As a provider of general education and through the departments outreach they aim to help people understand the power of communication through visual media and the rich variety of ideas and cultural heritages that are represented in visual art and architecture.

What: "Salt Unearthed"

This special panel discussion will feature several experts including Mark Bitterman, a leading expert on culinary salt, who won a James Beard Award for his first book, Salted. The panel will be moderated by Paul Crow, Assistant Professor of Photography at Weber State University.

Other panel experts include:

  • Hikmet Loe (Westminster), aesthetics/art history
  • Bonnie Baxter (Westminster, Great Salt Lake Institute), science/ecology
  • Carla Trentleman (WSU), sociology
  • Angelika Pagel (WSU), art-history
  • Michele Culumber (WSU), microbiology

When: Thurs. March 27 at 7 p.m. (Mountain)

Where: Weber State University Kimball Visual Arts Building, room 120

Gallery Hours: Monday-Friday: 11 a.m. 5 p.m. and Saturday: 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday: Closed
