Described by Saveur as "the ultimate culinary cultural center," Astor Center presents a special event: WINE, WOMEN AND SONG: An evening of Wine and Cabaret, on Monday, September 19 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The show will feature cabaret favorite Marianne Challis, winner of the MAC and Bistro Awards, and leading the wine tastings will be Andy Fisher, President of Astor Center and Astor Wines & Spirits. Guests will enjoy six wine tastings, alternating with musical selections from the Broadway and cabaret repertoire. Astor Center is located at 399 Lafayette Street, NYC. Tickets at $95 each can be reserved via www.AstorCenterNYC.com.

Marianne Challis has performed extensively in musical theater and cabaret across the country. A self-described "middle-aged party girl", Marianne has performed at New York's Feinstein's at the Loews Regency Hotel, The Laurie Beechman Theater, and The Metropolitan Room among others. Marianne's popular live CD, "Marianne Challis: Confessions of a Middle Aged Party Girl", is available nationwide. Marianne's repertoire includes such Great American Songbook favorites as Rodgers & Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, and Johnny Mercer. She starred in the New York City Opera production of South Pacific; appeared in Carnegie Hall's Sondheim: A Musical Salute; toured with the Broadway production of Side by Side by Sondheim; and has played leads at the famed Goodspeed Opera House. Marianne won the 2008 Backstage Bistro Award and, most recently, was honored to receive the 2011 MAC Hanson Award for Continued Excellence in Cabaret.

Andy Fisher has been President of Astor Wines & Spirits for over 30 years. When he started in 1971, it was a small shop in the middle of Astor Place. In 1980 he expanded to the corner of Astor Place and Lafayette Street, and in 2006 he moved the store to its current location on Lafayette and East 4th Streets. This latest expansion allowed him to add Astor Center, creating an educational complement to the extensive offerings of Astor Wines & Spirits. Astor Center is designed to educate customers in all things related to wine, spirits, and food. Noted for its innovative and creative programming, Astor Center uses the simple slogan, "Eat. Drink. Think."
