Amulet Books, an imprint of ABRAMS, has partnered with Six Flags Great Adventure Theme Park in New Jersey to hold a special live authorless Wimpy Kid Book 8 cover, title, and color reveal today.

The current Wimpy Kid Book 8 Mobile, which debuted at BookExpo in May, will take center stage for the unveiling in the park with a new name and new look that matches the color and cover of book 8. This event is the first in a major nationwide campaign that incorporates live events at retailers, social media interaction, and photos and fun giveaways to build awareness for Diary of a Wimpy Kid Book 8, the biggest book of 2013, on sale 11.5.13.

At 10:00 a.m. just outside the ticket booths at Six Flags Great Adventure, fans will gather as a tarp is pulled off the Book 8 Mobile. Beneath it, the cover of book 8 in the Wimpy Kid series will be revealed. As they pass the truck to enter the park, fans will be given a Wimpy Kid branded bracelet, which they can use as they exit the park to get a free book 8 poster. Photos will also be taken with the Book 8 Mobile and emailed to fans immediately. A major social media component will share the photos on Wimpykid.com and through ABRAMS extensive social media channels.

"We are taking the cover reveal experience to a whole new level," says Veronica Wasserman, Brand Director, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. "By partnering with one of the most popular summer destinations in the Northeast, we will kick off our incredible fall campaign with a bang."

Diary of a Wimpy Kid is once again poised to be the biggest book series of the year, as book 8 hits stores on November 5, 2013. The biggest book release of 2012, with a 6.5-million-copy first printing, was Jeff Kinney's seventh Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, The Third Wheel. It continues to dominate bestseller lists-as of today, it's the top-selling children's title of 2013. The series has been a fixture on the USA Today bestseller list (the first book in the series remained in the top 150 for more than 200 weeks) and also on the Wall Street Journal and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists. The series has remained consistently on the New York Times list since the publication of the first book.

More than 85 million Diary of a Wimpy Kid books are in print around the world. The books have been sold in more than 44 territories in 42 languages. Published by Amulet Books, an imprint of ABRAMS, Kinney's work has been widely praised for its ability to turn reluctant readers on to books. Jeff Kinney was named one of Time magazine's most influential people in the world. Three movies based on the book series have grossed more than $250 million internationally. The book series won Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in 2010, 2011, and 2012 (and is nominated for one in 2013), and Jeff Kinney won a Children's Choice Book Award in 2012. Books in the series have won numerous awards voted on by students and teachers around the globe. The Wimpy Kid island (Wimpy Wonderland) on poptropica.com, a virtual world for kids, remains one of the most visited on the site.
