Calling all teens who live to perform! Auditions are happening now for exciting new opportunities with the WHBPAC's Arts Education Program. Teens can now participate in two brand new classes - "The Inside Jokes" Theatre Improv Troupe and "The Hamp-Tones" A Cappella Vocal Group - the only performing arts classes of its kind on the East End.

Both of these select classes, which require an entrance audition, will meet for 10-weeks on Saturday mornings from 9am-12pm beginning April 6. Emphasis will be placed on honing performing techniques and life skills, and each class will become its own sustained performance group with opportunities to showcase newly learned skills throughout the year!

Students will learn how to create characters, scenes and songs on the spot, in the style of short-form improvisation games in The Inside Jokes! And teen singing sensations, The Hamp-Tones, will learn how to sing the greatest hits of Broadway and today's pop stars with no instrumental accompaniment other than their own voices! Auditions are required for each; a limited number of spots are available.

The program's audition dates and schedule are as follows:
Saturday, February 16: Auditions12:30-2PM
Saturday, March 9: Auditions12:30-2PM
April 6 - June 8: Weekly Saturday Rehearsals 9am - 12noon
*All auditionees must contact Julienne Penza to schedule an audition appointment - 631-288-2350 x. 114.

What's more, while students are rehearsing, parents can relax in our newly refurbished WHBPAC Parent Lounge where they can enjoy refreshments, coffee and complementary wi-fi access. Parents will also have the opportunity to visit with our gifted WHBPAC Arts Ed Staff to discuss their child's development within the program.

The goal of the WHBPAC's Arts Education Program is to ensure that the arts play an integral role in the lives of both children and adults in our communities. WHBPAC Arts Education Programs currently provide a distinctive and comprehensive array of offerings for children and their families year-round. Participation in the performing arts can unleash creative energy, help a youths find their unique voice, reinforce valuable life skills and support the development of an appreciation and lifelong love for the arts.
