The Billboard Chart Achievement Award Presented by Xfinity will be given to an artist who has accomplished an outstanding and rare achievement on the Billboard music charts over the past year. Below are the nominees and their respective chart achievements:

Luke Bryan: The country superstar became the first artist to earn six No. 1s from an album on Billboard's Country Airplay chart when "Fast" - from his "Kill The Lights" album - hit the top.

The Chainsmokers: The Chainsmokers' "Closer," featuring Halsey, set the record for the most time in the top five (27 weeks) of any song in the Billboard Hot 100's 59-year history.

Nicki Minaj: The rapper/singer set the mark for most chart appearances by a female artist in Billboard Hot 100 history with her 74th chart hit, surpassing Aretha Franklin who had previously held the record for nearly 40 years.

Twenty One Pilots: The duo's "Heathens" set the record for the most weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Rock Songs chart when it spent its 28th week atop the list.

The Weeknd: The R&B/pop star simultaneously charted all 18 songs from his latest album "Starboy" on the Billboard Hot 100, making him only the second artist in history to place that many songs on the Hot 100 in a single week.

Nominees for Top Social Artist perennially occupy the top slots on Billboard's weekly Social 50 chart. Whether on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Wikipedia or Tumblr, they are artists the fans engage with the most on social media.

Billboard Music Awards nominees are based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital songs sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring and social engagement. These measurements are tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound. The awards are based on the reporting period of March 18, 2016, through March 16, 2017. Since 1940, the Billboard charts have been the go-to guide for ranking the popularity of songs and albums, and are the ultimate measure of success in music.

ABC's three-hour telecast of the "2016 Billboard Music Awards" drew an average audience of 9.8 million viewers and a 3.2/10 in Adults 18-49 to rank as Sunday's No. 1 broadcast program. In addition, the awards show was Sunday's most social program with 1.8 million tweets.
