Victorian Opera and the Monash University Academy of Performing Arts present a new concert event Games of Love and Chance, on Saturday 29 March 2014.

Headlined by legendary singer Lisa Gasteen, the concert explores the affairs of the heart and the gambles we take to find love, brought to life through the breathtaking power of opera.

"Lisa Gasteen is an artist in the tradition of great Australian singers like Dame Nellie Melba, Marjorie Lawrence and Sylvia Fisher," said Richard Mills, Artistic Director of Victorian Opera, who will be conducting the concert.

"A master performer, Lisa's commitment to nurturing young talent has seen her establish her own school in Queensland, mentor developing artists, and now perform alongside some of the state's finest young musicians."

Famous for singing the Wagnerian role of Bru?nnhilde - including in Australia's first ever Ring Cycle - Lisa received a diamond ring from a fan during her last performance with Victorian Opera in 2013's Opera on a White Night, the opening concert of the inaugural White Night Melbourne.

"The Monash Academy Orchestra prides itself on high-calibre performances and exciting collaborations. This event, bringing Lisa Gasteen to the Robert Blackwood Hall is a milestone for us." said Paul Grabowsky, Executive Director of Monash University Academy of Performing Arts.

Joining Lisa will be the formidable voices of Roxane Hislop, Douglas McNicol and Carlos E. Ba?rcenas, who was last year a student of Lisa's in a Victorian Opera Master Class.

"Developing young talent and sharing world class performances across Melbourne and the state is an important part of our remit, and something we will continue to do in Monash and beyond," said Mills.
