Viacom CEO Comments on THE BOOK OF MORMON Movie Plans
According to Variety, Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman recently commented on a potential movie version of "South Park" creators' Trey Parker and Matt Stone's hit Broadway musical The Book of Mormon. Viacom owns Comedy Central, which airs "South Park".
"We love working with the two of them," Dauman said at a conference for investors. "In face we have small investment in the play given our association. 'South Park' is a major property for us, so we always talk to them. We've done movies with them in the past and we always look for opportunities to work with them."

Despite Dauman's interest, the film will most likely be put on hold for a while. This September, Parker told Entertainment Weekly, "Hopefully it will have a big run and a big tour and then we can do the movie in several years."
With its far reach, the show's busy schedule—The Book of Mormon continues to play on Broadway, as well as in two national tours, and the show debuts in the West End in February—might be enough on its own to keep talks of a film in the wings.
Parker and Stone have done film work in the past, releasing "Bigger, Longer and Uncut" and "Team America: World Police" with Paramount.
