The Van Wezel Education Department's Art Works for Schooltime - Grade Level Reading Partnership is grateful to receive a $10,000 grant from Manatee Community Foundation - The Jay K. Turner Fund.

Funding from the Manatee Community Foundation - Jay K. Turner Fund will support the adoption of Palm View Elementary School to receive an Art Works for Schooltime - Grade Level Reading Partnership. Working in conjunction with the Manatee County School District, Palm View's second grade has been selected to access the Van Wezel's Schooltime performances and connected arts-based activities of the Art Works for Schooltime Initiative.

The "adopted" grade level will be provided: two new learning modules (connected to the 2017-2018 Schooltime Performances program) focused on children's literature, teacher professional development workshops for each learning module, classroom modeling with a Van Wezel Teaching Artist, attendance at a Schooltime show and two or more "Family Literacy Nights" with parents and family members.

"We are very thankful to the Manatee Community Foundation for allowing our 2Gen literacy approach to expand to Manatee County. We look forward to partnering with Palm View Elementary on this project, and continued work in Manatee County serving students, teachers and families." -Kelli Maldonado, Director of Education and Community Engagement at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.
