VIDEO: Macklemore, Madonna & More Perform as 34 Couples Wed on GRAMMY AWARDS

On last night's GRAMMY AWARDS, which aired live on CBS, super star Madonna joined Macklemore for a special performance of the rapper's hit song 'Same Love,' as 34 couples, described by The New York Times as "gay, straight, old, young, of many races and many colors" simultaneously tied the knot.

Queen Latifah introduced four-time Grammy winners Macklemore who performed the song in a wedding-style gazebo, along with Mary Lambert, who is also featured on the track.

As Ryan Lewis and Madonna joined them on stage, Latifah proceeded to officiate the marriages of the 34 couples followed by an excited Madonna declaring, "I now pronounce you married!"

Following last night's live broadcast, GLAAD President Sarah Kate Ellis expressed her thanks to the musical artists, for "the love and commitment of gay couples. When such a critically acclaimed and popular rap artist puts marriage equality center stage at one of the biggest events of the year, it is the latest in a long line of signs that our nation not only accepts, but celebrates the love and commitment of gay couples today. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis aren't only talented musicians, but are setting the bar high for our allies around the country today."

Backstage, Macklemore expressed his strong belief in the legality of same-sex marriage, explaining, "It's a message of quality, tolerance, compassion, to end homophobia, bigotry and hatred which has been an institution here in America. Loving who you want to love. I don't think a song like 'Same Love' would be embraced years ago. It's a testament to where we're headed in this country."
