As one of the most successful years in her career comes to an end, Tony Award winner Idina Menzel spoke with ET about both the soaring achievements and the personal setbacks she's experienced throughout 2014. Watch the interview below!

"This whole year has been professionally rewarding and fantastic and personally a little more challenging and that is the way life is," the IF/THEN star told ET.

Among Menzel's professional triumphs of 2014 was her new Christmas album, Holiday Wishes, which reached the #10 spot on the Billboard Album Charts this month. The 43-year-old credits her son Walker for helping her view the holiday season in a whole new way. "Now that I have a son I am sort of rediscovering the holidays through his eyes," she shares.

Menzel rose to prominence when she originated the role of 'Maureen' in the hit Broadway musical RENT, a role which she reprised for the 2005 feature film adaptation of the musical. She received a Tony Award nomination in 1996 for her portrayal. In 2004, she won the Tony Award for Best LeadingActress in a Musical for originating the role of 'Elphaba' in the blockbuster Broadway musical WICKED. Menzel made her return to Broadway in the 2014 musical IF/THEN and was nominated for a 2014 Tony Award for her performance.

Menzel is also known for her recurring role of 'Shelby Corcoran' on the musical comedy-drama television series GLEE, her part in the 2007 Disney movie ENCHANTED and as THE VOICE of 'Elsa' in the Disney animated film FROZEN, which is the highest-grossing animated film of all time, and in which she sang the Academy Award-winning song "Let It Go".
