Rising Minneapolis duo Strange Names' video for the track "Once an Ocean" is premiering at A Heart is a Spade. Check it out below!

The track is the b-side of the band's "Minor Times/Once an Ocean 7", produced by Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast, Fool's Gold, Foreign Born), and recorded at Los Angeles' White Iris Studios. MPR's The Current recently premiered the record's a-side, "Minor Times," at http://bit.ly/14m2Gvw. The record is available via iTunes (http://bit.ly/10a0zUZ) as well as on vinyl (http://bit.ly/Y2kMzi).
Headed up by lead singer Liam Benzvi and guitarist Francis Jimenez, Strange Names met while attending the University of Minnesota in 2010 and recorded their Five Songs and Strange Names EPs. Minneapolis' Citypages hailed the track "Potential Wife" from the band's eponymous EP "one of the most joyful, exuberant dance numbers to come out of the City of Lakes in the past 12 months." Benzvi and Jimenez are joined on their new 7" release by Fletcher Aleckson and Andre Borka on drums and bass, respectively.
White Iris, the label arm of premier music house Black Iris, is an LA-based creative incubator, a cosm inside of which projects can be conceived, hatched, nurtured and borne upward. The label is best known as the initial supporter and launch pad for a number of successful artists including Best Coast, Fool's Gold, Foreign Born and FIDLAR. In-house producers of renown lend developing musicians the harbor of an aesthetic workshop, while label staff comprises a think tank capable of providing creative, articulate solutions to modern problems.
