Tonight, Helder Guimarães, one of the premier close-up artists of the world, opens his newest show for New York audiences. Verso is now playing at New World Stages (340 West 50th St. between 8th and 9th Avenues).

Intimate and enigmatic, witty and unorthodox, Verso is Helder's most daunting journey into the impossible yet. Bear witness as he pushes the very limits of magic, and challenges just how much you're willing to accept what your eyes assume to be true.

Verso is written and performed by Helder Guimarães and features Direction by Rodrigo Santos, Creative Direction & Scenic Design by Catarina Marques, Lighting Design by Pedro Vieira de Carvalho, Original Music by Pedro Marques and Creative Consulting by Kelly Devine.

Verso had its world premiere in Portugal earlier this year playing the Teatro do Bolhão in Porto on January 14, 2016 and then the Teatro da Trindade in Lisboa on January 20, 2016. This will be the American premiere of Verso.

Verso is produced in New York by Rodney Rigby, Latitude Link, Eva Price, Kevin Kinsella, Alexis II Fund, David Lara, Barbara Manocherian, Richard Winkler/Heni Koenigsberg.

At the age of 23, Helder Guimarães became a World Champion of Card Magic. He has the distinction of being the youngest competitor to have ever won that prestigious award. Helder's performance left both the judging panel and over a thousand other performers utterly baffled. His appearances at Hollywood's famed Magic Castle led him to be awarded the title of Parlour Magician of The Year in 2011 and 2012 by the Academy of Magical Arts. Helder debuted Nothing to Hide in 2012. Directed by Neil Patrick Harris, the show received rave audience reviews and critical acclaim. Nothing to Hide went on to be the best-selling and longest-running show in the history of the prestigious Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles. That success led to an Off-Broadway run in New York, with all 110 performances completely sold out. As one of the invited guests for the main TED Conference in 2014, Helder displayed his unique charm, storytelling and jaw-dropping magic for a spellbound audience. In February 2016, Helder opened Borrowed Time. An immersive and secretive affair, it was the first of its kind anywhere in the world. Relying only on word of mouth, Borrowed Time ran for four sold-out months. L.A. Weekly called it "the best magical performance you might ever see in L.A.," and the Los Angeles Times picked it as a Critic's Choice. Helder currently lives in Los Angeles.
