Upright Citizen's Brigade Presents 'Out of My Mind'

The Upright Citizen's Brigade Theater will present OUT OF MY MIND, the acclaimed one-person show written and performed by Nick Zimmerman on Wednesday, April 16th at 8pm and Wednesday, April 30th at 8pm.  The show, based on actual events, is set in a University of Chicago dorm room and invites the audience to experience a party in celebration of "Out of Africa", the 1985 film starring Meryl
Streep and Robert Redford.

Nick, the main character, is an eccentric college freshman in love with two things: the title film about a Danish plantation owner in colonial Kenya and fellow freshman, Will G.  When his boy-crush fails to show, Nick is left with only one guest forced to endure his dramatic reenactments of "Out Of Africa" passages and epiphany that the passionate but ultimately doomed love affair in the film is strangely like his own. Or at least he thinks so.

Filled with the awkwardness of freshman year, first love, and homosexual exploration, the show gives a personal and endearing glimpse into the life of the author.  It will be performed for the eighth time on April 16th and is directed by John Flynn.

Nick Zimmerman was born in Chicago, IL and lived in Denver, CO.  In 1999 he enrolled at the University of Chicago where he fell in love and threw an Out of Africa-themed party, inspired by his appreciation of the film. Though he put up posters and sent emails, only one guest attended, and his heart was broken.  Today, Nick writes and performs comedy in New York at The Upright Citizen's Brigade and Magnet Theater.  He was a finalist on the online reality series Protect Improviser (www.projectimprovisor.com).
