As previously reported by BroadwayWorld, Broadway veteran Jeff Conaway slipped into a drug-induced coma on May 11th. According to USA Today, the actor passed away this morning after his family decided to take him off of life-support. He was 60 years old.

There are conflicting reports in the press as to the exact cause of death for Mr. Conaway. USA Today reports that the actor had been battling pneumonia and sepsis, a potentially deadly blood poisoning caused by a bacterial infection.

Jeff Conaway made his Broadway debut in 1960 in ALL THE WAY HOME. He also appeared in GREASE on Broadway as Danny Zuko, the role that would later be made famous by John Travolta on the big screen. Conaway made his final appearance on Broadway in 1985's THE NEWS.

He's arguably best known, however, for his roles on film: Kenickie in the film version of GREASE and Bobby Wheeler in the television series Taxi.
