Just prior to David Bowie's death yesterday at the age of 69, the New York Times reported that the music legend was to be honored at Carnegie Hall with an all-star concert.

Among those set to perform were the Roots, Cyndi Lauper, the Mountain Goats, Jakob Dylan, Bettye LaVette, Ann Wilson of Heart, Perry Farrell, as well as surprise guests. The concert, part of winery runner Michael Dorf's annual tribute series, is scheduled to take place on March 31. Proceeds will benefit Young Audiences New York, Little Kids Rock, Church Street School of Music, the Center for Arts Education, the American Symphony Orchestra and Grammy in the Schools.

Musicof.org has shared the following update on the tribute concert on their official web site:

MICHAEL DORF PRESENTS

MAR 31 2016

The unexpected death of David Bowie has made this tribute to him into a memorial concert. While the series has had the surprise appearances and performances of the honoree several times in the past, this one will certainly become a poignant honor of his music by his friends, peers, and fans. We are all deeply saddened at this news, the timing of our public on-sale bizarre in its timing, and the show is taking on many more emotions. RIP David and may gods love be with you...

As BWW reported earlier today, the legendary singer, songwriter and actor passed away following a long battle with cancer. He was 69.

Bowie's latest album BLACKSTAR released last month on Iso/Columbia Records in various formats. The New York Theatre Workshop is currently presenting David Bowie's Lazarus by David Bowie and Enda Walsh (Once, Tony Award). The show is inspired by the novel The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis and directed by Ivo van Hove.Lazarus began previews on November 18 and officially opened on December 7, 2015 and runs through January 20, 2016.
