UPDATE 9/2: Billboard reports that Barbra Streisand has officially scored the seventh No. 1 of her 50-year U.K. album chart career today. "Encore -- Movie Partners Sing Broadway", out now on Columbia/Sony, entered today's new countdown at the top with combined units of 20,000, according to the Official Charts Company.

Streisand first made the U.K. album chart in January 1966 with 'My Name Is Barbra Two.' The singer's first No. 1 was the soundtrack to A Star Is Born with Kris Kristofferson in 1977, followed to the top spot by Greatest Hits Vol. 2 in 1979, Guilty (1980),Love Songs (1982), The Essential Barbra Streisand (2002), and Love Is The Answer(2009).

Today's achievement puts her in second place among female solo artists with the most chart-topping albums in the territory, behind Madonna with 12.

Last Friday, the multi-Grammy winner released her 35th studio album 'Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway.' According to the site, as of the week's midway point, the LP was at the top of the U.K. chart.

'Encore', which features duets of songs from some of the most beloved Broadway musicals, hit No. 1 on the Chart Update with a 6,000 combined sales advantage over its closest competitor, Britney Spears' Glory (RCA), according to the Official Charts Company. The remainder of the top 5 albums on the list include Frank Ocean's Blonde (Boys Don't Cry) at No. 3, Dolly Parton's Pure & Simple (RCA Nashville) at No. 4, and Rick Astley's former chart-topper 50 (BMG) is surging to No. 5.
