UM Theatre & Dance to Host Panel Discussion on ADHD in Conjunction with Lisa Loomer's DISTRACTED

The University of Montana is pleased to offer Distracted, a comic play with biting social commentary focused on one family's quest to help their son recently diagnosed with ADHD. Distracted runs in the Masquer Theatre of the Performing Arts and Radio/Television Center on campus October 22-26 and October 29-November 2 at 7:30 pm.

In an effort to further the discussion generated by their production of Lisa Loomer's provocative comedy, the School of Theatre & Dance invites the community to their open forum/talkback session immediately following Distracted's performance on Wednesday, October 30, in the Masquer Theatre. The show begins at 7:30 p.m.; the talkback will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.

Distracted asks the prescient question innumerable parents struggle to answer: where's the line between 'kids will be kids" and a diagnosis of ADHD? The panel at the talkback will be made up of Dr. Noel Hoell, Curry Health Center resident psychiatrist; Dr. Ann Garfinkle, Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction; Tracy Hardy, Missoula County Public Schools Special Education and Structured Learning Program teacher; and the play's director, MFA graduate student Hillary Sea Bard. This group will answer questions from the audience and comment on their research and personal experience with the subject matter.
