Acclaimed Turkish classical guitarist Sinan Ersahin will make a rare U.S. appearance this evening, April 4, 8:30 PM at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia, Symphony Space.

The Istanbul-based virtuoso has been widely acclaimed for his solo performances with Turkey's major symphony orchestras, including the Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra & the CRR Symphonic Orchestra. An active recitalist, he recently performed at the prestigious Morelia Guitar Festival in Michoacan, Mexico. Ersahin offers traditional classical guitar repertoire from Spain and South America, enriched by Anatolian musical idioms that he employs in his own dazzling compositions and arrangements. Through this melding, he not only creates a musical bridge between East and West, but between the Old World and the New.

Ersahin studied in Prague, and went on to receive advanced degrees in Istanbul, where he pioneered the Istanbul Guitar Festival. This important international forum regularly features such legendary guitarists as Sharon Isben and David Russell.

Dedicated to the promotion of contemporary classical music and cultural exchange Marsyas Productions represents the production arm of the Roger Shapiro Fund for New Music. Marsyas has presented concerts in New York and Washington DC featuring the work of numerous composers including Dina Koston, Chou Wen-chung, Mario Davidovsky, and Yehudi Wyner.
