Producers Tom Kirdahy, Roy Furman, and Ken Davenport announced today that Tony Award winner Nathan Lane will return to the Broadway's biggest hit comedy It's Only a Play in the role of James Wicker on March 31, 2015 and will continue with the production through its scheduled closing date of June 7, 2015. Lane departed It's Only A Play on January 4, 2015 due to a previously scheduled commitment with the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) staging of The Iceman Cometh.

Emmy and Tony Award winner Martin Short, who stepped into the role of Wicker for a limited run, departs the production on March 29th as previously scheduled.

It's Only A Play opened on Broadway on October 9, 2014, and has twice extended its run due to popular demand. It is currently scheduled through Sunday, June 7, 2015. In December 2014, it was announced that It's Only a Play recouped its entire $3.9 million capitalization. It currently plays at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 West 45th Street). Tickets are now on sale for all performances. For more information on It's Only A Play, please visit www.ItsOnlyAPlay.com.

Terrence McNally's It's Only A Play also stars Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham, 2-time Tony winner Matthew Broderick, Tony and Emmy winner Stockard Channing, 2-time Tony winner Katie Finneran, "30 Rock" alum and SAG winner Maulik Pancholy, and Micah Stock in his Broadway debut. 3-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien directs.

In It's Only A Play, it's opening night of Peter Austin's (Matthew Broderick) new play as he anxiously awaits to see if his show is a hit. With his career on the line, he shares his big First Night with his best friend, a television star (Martin Short), his fledgling producer (Katie Finneran), his erratic leading lady (Stockard Channing), his wunderkind director (Maulik Pancholy), an infamous drama critic (F. Murray Abraham), and a fresh-off-the-bus coat check attendant (Micah Stock) on his first night in Manhattan. It's alternately raucous, ridiculous and tender - and proves that sometimes the biggest laughs happen offstage.

The design team for It's Only A Play includes scenic design by Tony winner Scott Pask, costume design by Academy Award and Tony winner Ann Roth, lighting design by Philip Rosenberg, and sound design by Fitz Patton.

Tickets are available by visiting the Jacobs Theatre box office Monday - Saturday, 10am - 8:30pm; Sunday, 12 - 6pm; or online at Telecharge.com. For groups of 12 or more, call 855-329-2932.
