On Wednesday, August 21 at 7pm at The Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street), the first NYC Mayoral Democratic Primary Debate will take placemoderated by Errol Louis of NY1. A limited number of tickets to the debate are available free to the public and can be reserved by sending an email to debates@citizensunion.org or calling 212-227-0342, ext. 39. Reserved tickets can then be picked up on 8/21 beginning at 12pm and through 6:30pm at The Town Hall Box Office. Any available unreserved tickets will also be available the day of at the box office.

The debate will be open to all Democratic candidates who have raised/spent $50,000 and the panelists for the debate will be Grace Rauh of NY1; Juan Manuel Benitez of NY1 Noticias; Brian Lehrer of WNYC; and David Chen from The New York Times.

The official New York City Debate Program is administered by the New York City Campaign Finance Board and it is a core component of NYC Votes, their nonpartisan voter engagement campaign. The Democratic Mayoral Primary Election debate at Town Hall is sponsored by NY1 News, NY1 Noticias, Time Warner Cable, WNYC, Citizens Committee for New York City, Citizens Union, Gothamist, Hispanic Federation and Transportation Alternatives, with expenses underwritten by Adelphi University, Capital One, Clear Channel Communications, Con Edison, D&B Engineers and Architects, Greater NY Automobile Association, Master Plumbers Council of NYC, Melrose Credit Union, Rent Stabilization Association, andVerizon.

The Town Hall is among New York City's most historic venues. Built in 1921 by a group of suffragettes, The Town Hall began as a lecture hall and public debate forum and grew to be a national landmark institution for arts, culture and education. Over the decades, Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Sanger, Billie Holiday, Igor Stravinsky, Marian Anderson, Bob Dylan and MiLes Davis have graced the stage. It was home to the legendary radio program,America's Town Meeting of the Air, dozens of historic albums and recordings, and American debuts of musical legends. Today, the Hall boasts the very best in music performances, spoken word, comedy and dance, including speaking engagements with presidents and senators, live broadcasts of Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion, and a number of new and critically acclaimed music series.
