THEATER TALK invites viewers to celebrate the holidays with two of New York theater's current leading lights - Colin Quinn, now starring in "Long Story Short" on Broadway at the Booth, and Todd Robbins, star of "Play Dead" off-Broadway at The Players. The show premieres Friday evening, Dec. 17 at 1 a.m. on Thirteen (wnet.org).

(For Christmas revelers, the program will be repeated on CUNY TV beginning Saturday, Dec. 25 at 8:30 PM, as well as Sunday, Dec. 26 at 12:30 PM, and Monday, Dec. 27 at 7:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 7:30 PM. It will also air on NYC TV and NJN in New York City.)

In the first segment, Colin Quinn lights up the studio with his charm and humor in a wide-ranging and self-effacing interview with Michael Riedel, Broadway columnist for the New York Post, and Theater Talk's producer Susan Haskins. Quinn touches on the subject of his new one-man show, what it's like to work with Jerry Seinfeld as his director, Wiki-leaks, the collapse of the Irish economy and his career-launching years with Saturday Night Live.

Then, speaking of lights, magician Todd Robbins eats some off our holiday decorations in a virtuoso display, just one of his many coups de theatre from his show Play Dead, which The New York Times calls his "gleefully gruesome fright fest for grownups."

Whether or not one agrees with Robbins' statement that there is "no greater horror than having to face your family at this time of year," THEATER TALK offers a tasty diversion from the season's traditional TV fare.
