The Texas Rep Theatre Co., Houston's Uptown Classic Theatre, continues a tradition of theatrical excellence in it's Ninth season with Steve Martin's hysterical adaptation of Carl Sternheim's farce comedy The Underpants. Directed in a new production by Troy Scheid and featuring a stellar cast of Houston's finest performers, The Underpants will preview on May 8th, celebrate its gala opening on May 9th, and run 4 performances a week through June 1st.

From the mind of Steve Martin, the renowned comic actor and screenwriter, comes a wild and crazy satire The Underpants is the cheeky tale of Louise, the pretty but neglected wife of a blockheaded bureaucrat, whose bloomers won't stay on. One Sunday morning they fall to her ankles right in the middle of town-a public scandal. Her husband is horrified, fearing scandal and sure enough, two men - a poet and a barber - show up at their door hoping to rent the spare room and woo Louise, and these prospective lodgers have some underlying surprises of their own. Steve Martin brings his comic genius and sophisticated literary style to Carl Sternheim's classic 1910 farce, and has created a gleeful and giddy romp about scandal and celebrity.
