The Stockton Symphony's Pops Concert Features THE TEXAS TENORS, 5/3

Since wowing audiences as the highest-ranking vocal group ever on NBC's America's Got Talent, JC Fisher, Marcus Collins and John Hagen bring their diverse brand of harmonic, pop melodies to the Stockton Symphony's Pops & Picnic concert on Saturday, May 3. Concert attendees will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the biggest musical party of the year at University of the Pacific's Spanos Center. Doors open at 5:45 and the concert begins at 8:00 pm.

The evening includes no-host beer and wine bars, a silent auction with items from a Taylor Swift guitar to an apartment in Venice, Italy; and a raffle for a diamond necklace, with only 150 tickets to be sold. All attendees can bring their own picnic; table buyers can preorder a buffet dinner with their ticket; upper reserved seating buyers can purchase food from Pacific's food truck, Bon Appetit, on the plaza. No outside alcohol.

The Texas Tenors' sophomore album, You Should Dream, produced by Academy Award and Grammy-nominated producer Nigel Wright, satisfied longtime fans but also broadened their appeal with a contemporary but classic sound. You Should Dream is their most crossover work to date, which is due to the musical arrangements by John Hagen. Marcus explains, "John's arrangements keep it fresh. It's more today and current." Their vocal chops revamp songs like Frank Sinatra's "My Way" and "Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers, which we all heard on America's Got Talent. Their three-part harmonies tackle other classics like "Wild Horses" by The Rolling Stones, "Somewhere" from West Side Story and Miley Cyrus' signature ballad "The Climb," all stylized with a classical yet contemporary twist. "A lot of people think, 'Oh, we're going to see a country show,' " says JC. "But when they get there, they end up seeing this is a production. It's like hearing Pavarotti one second, George Michael the next and then John Denver!" John adds, "You can take three people with the same band and arrangements, but you wouldn't get the same result."

The Texas Tenors have achieved unprecedented success for an indie country group that has no manager or major label support. Their camaraderie, starting from the days of America's Got Talent, has allowed them to craft an identity all their own, breaking boundaries and rising above musical genres, which is obvious on their DVD, The Texas Tenors Live. The trio is known, not for country or classical, but for music that transcends labels. With their heart-felt harmonies, down-home roots and all-American story, The Texas Tenors are living proof that dreams come true.
