?THE RAILROAD PLAYHOUSE is pleased to announce it is opening its doors, inviting guests to become a part of Newburgh?s New Home for the Arts! On Saturday, November 20th, 2010 between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, the Railroad Playhouse will open its doors for the first time. The two-day celebration will include The Playhouse?s Premiere performances of a staged readings by the first playwright-in-residence, Alex Goldberg, directed by Railroad Playhouse Artistic Director Seth Soloway?showcasing local and NYC talent! Walking through the newly renovated railroad station guests will be able to view the premiere art exhibit by the artist Kevin Tong.

Guests will be offered the unique opportunity to make a lasting impression through sponsorships and naming options, such as by naming a theater chair or sponsoring a playwright; there will be tickets for upcoming events available for purchase; and they can record their MEMORIES of the historic West Shore Train Station in the public scrapbook and are welcome to bring historic photos to add to the collection. On Sunday, families will enjoy a special hip-hop dance workshop with special guest Janalee Wedenko of Janalee's School of Dance.

10:00 am ? 1 pm: Open House
1pm: "The Third Date" Bradley is getting ready for his third date with Angela, when he receives a surprise visit...from his father...who is dead. (running time approx. 30 min)
1:30 pm ? 3:30 pm: Open House
3:30 pm: "Broad Daylight" A mother, a son, a nice day, and a not so nice conversation. (running time approx. 20 min)
4:00 pm ? 6:00 pm: Open HOuse

BIOGRAPHIES
ALEX GOLDBERG (Playwright) Produced full-length plays include I?m In Love With Your Wife(Winner - Outstanding Playwriting for a New Script, Midtown InterNational Theatre Festival, dir. Tom Wojtunik), Stock Home (New York International Fringe Festival, dir. Seth Soloway), The Final Jew (staged reading, APAC; semifinalist, 2009 O?Neill Playwrights Conference) and the book and co-lyrics to the musical Election Day (ASCAPlus songwriting award, American Theater of Actors, O?Neill semifinalist). Produced one-act plays include Lying Naked (Winner ? Outstanding Overall Production of a One-Act, 2010 Planet Connection Festivity), Broad Daylight (Spring 2010 EAT Fest), The Third Date (2008 Pittsburgh New Works Festival), Breakdown in Babel (Instant Theatre Fest, July 2008), and Time Crime (four different New York Theater Companies). His writing was translated into Mandarin for a production in Taiwan. He co-wrote the feature film Fade to White, currently in post production, and the TV pilot The Adventures of Rick Brickman, finalist - 2008 FOX TV Comedy Script Contest and Bronze Medal Winner - 2009 PAGE Awards. He is a member of the award-winning sketch comedy group Fearsome. He is a graduate of Skidmore College and a member of ASCAP and The Dramatists Guild, Inc. SETH SOLOWAY (Co-Founder, Artistic Director) currently serves as Director of Booking at OBB, a theatrical booking and touring agency dedicated to the promotion and awareness of Off-Broadway as a brand of theatrical excellence outside of New York City. Current projects include The Aluminum Show, Celebrity Autobiography, and All Shook Up. Seth came to OBB from Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts where he served as Artistic Director. Seth has also worked at Richard Frankel Productions (Producers, Hairspray, Sweeny Todd) and served as the Lortel Administrator for the Off Broadway League. Other previous experience includes various positions at Second Stage Theater and the Appel Farm Arts and Music Center. Directing credits include After Wednesday (new play by Louise Schwarz), the New York premiere of Survival by Jeremy Basescu, Stock Home by Alex Goldberg (NYC Fringe Festival), Sweet on the Donor (Ashlin Halfnight) and most recently, The Underpants by Steve Martin (Gallery Players.) Seth currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Electric Pear Productions and is on the Brooklyn College MFA Performing Arts Management Alumni Board. Seth holds a BFA in Directing from Marymount Manhattan College and an MFA in Performing Arts Management from Brooklyn College.

THE RAILROAD PLAYHOUSE is dedicated to the revitalization of Newburgh and the preservation of Newburgh?s historic West Shore Railroad Station by providing a space for high-quality, artistically creative performing arts experiences.

The Railroad Playhouse will strive to provide a home for playwrights to workshop and showcase new plays; present local, national, and International Artists of all genres; create partnerships with local businesses and organizations to continue revitalizing the area; implement a summer arts camp for local children; and create teaching-artists residences in local schools.
