Openair, Illegal Pete's and Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret present: The Parlor Pickers with TRoy Walker and host Andrew Orvedahl tonight, July 3 at 8 p.m. (doors at 7) at 1601 Arapahoe Street, Denver, Colo. Tickets: $10.00; purchase here or at doors, or call 303.293.0075.

The first Wednesday of each month, Illegal Pete's will be presenting some of the finest independent bands and recording artists that the region has to offer. It's a night of comedy, music, friends and fun. The show will open with a top-notch comedian with great music following to round out the evening. A special night in the coolest showroom in town for only $10.00! Hosted each month by the clever Andrew Orvedahl, known as 1/3 of the buzzworthy comedy group The Grawlix, creator of the monthly storytelling series, the Narrators, and un-athletic gym teacher in the Amazon pilot Those Who Can't.

Performing as the musical guest at the sixth Greater Than Social Club are The Parlor Pickers, a 3-piece outfit from Denver that specialize in their own unique brand of music known as 'Roadhouse' (a blend of good ol' fashioned Rock n' Roll, Blues, and Country). Denver comic TRoy Walker, also performing that evening, is a member of the prestigious regular rotation at Comedy Works and won its annual summer contest twice; on top of performing at a ton of festivals (The Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival, The Great American Comedy Festival, The Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, The Telluride Comedy Festival, and The Aspen Laff Festival), he's also an attorney, which is pret-ty impressive.

The Parlor Pickers are a 3-piece outfit from Denver, CO that specialize in their own unique brand of music known as 'Roadhouse' (a blend of good ol' fashioned Rock n' Roll, Blues, and Country). The band formed Christmas, 2009 and released their first EP, A Stewart Family Christmas that was mainly given to friends and family as a Christmas gift.

After tirelessly busking on lamp-lit street corners, playing in the rowdiest of LoDo bars, honing their musical prowess in burrito shops, and lighting up many a small-town stage, people from the orange groves of Florida to the sun-soaked beaches of California have started to be drawn to the exciting and fun atmosphere The Parlor Pickers provide.

This nationwide support prompted the group to go back into the studio and record the songs that excited those who have seen them live and they released their debut full-length album Barn Burner in May 2011. Judging by the overwhelming support of the music from literally every age demographic the group believes the unique sound and the party atmosphere that The Parlor Pickers provide speaks for itself in regard to where this band will go in the next few years.

TRoy Walker, a Colorado native, began performing in Denver open mics a mere five years ago. In that time, he has become a ubiquitous performer in the Mile High City. Methodically scratching and clawing his way up from absolutely horrible dive bars to the best stages the city has to offer, all while never losing his charming awkwardness and incredible likeability.

He is a member of the prestigious regular rotation at Comedy Works and won its annual summer contest twice. He has performed in The Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival, The Great American Comedy Festival, The Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, The Telluride Comedy Festival, The Aspen Laff Festival, as well as numerous shows in the middle of nowhere. Troy also happened to graduate from D.U. Law School last year.

This is a show you don't want to miss. You will one day be able to say, "I saw that guy at Comedy Works before he was famous!"

Andrew Orvedahl has a casual, intelligent sense of humor that has entertained audiences in Comedy Clubs, colleges and theaters from coast to coast. Andrew has appeared on Last Comic Standing, and Nickelodeon, as well as being heard on SiriusXM radio. Recently Andrew sold a sitcom pilot to Amazon, and released his comedy album Hit the Dick Lights May 14th, 2013.
Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret is located underground in the historic D&F Clocktower in the heart of the Denver theatre, hotel and shopping district. Sensual decor, cocktails, appetizers, dessert, and the most eclectic entertainment around, make Lannie's the coolest room in town.
