'The Music of Jerry Herman' Plays Lincoln Center, 10/16

The Philhallmonic Society will perform a special concert, The Best of Times - The Music of Jerry Herman on Sunday, October 16 at 2:30 pm at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center in the Bruno Walter Auditorium. Under the direction of international Broadway composer and producer Phil Hall, The Philhallmonic Society is an intergenerational group of female Broadway, cabaret and classical singers whose mission is to contribute their talents for philanthropic and humanitarian endeavors.

"The New York Public Library is pleased to be able to host The Philhallmonic Society and their show which honors the wonderful music of Jerry Herman," says Cheryl Raymond, Manager, Public Programs and Special Events at New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center.

The Philhallmonic Society is debuting this special performance of The Best of Times - The Music of Jerry Herman at Lincoln Center to help raise awareness for The Philhallmonic Society's charitable mission. "We hope that this Lincoln Center performance will put The Philhallmonic Society on the radar screen of charities and philanthropic organizations that need star quality performances at their major fundraising events," says Mr. Hall.

"The ladies of The Philhallmonic Society sing their hearts out to help improve the lives of others," says Mr. Hall. "All of the women of The Philhallmonic Society are actively involved in performing on the professional stage, so the fact that they donate their considerable talents to this philanthropic mission is truly inspiring," he states.

The Philhallmonic Society is called by cabaret superstar KT Sullivan, "Sex in the City Meets Glee," and, has been acknowledged in the press as "resounding with talent and triumph."

During the past year, The Philhallmonic Society has performed for such organizations as The American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge, Reach the World, The National Jewish Women's Council, The Salvation Army, The 92nd Street Y, The Actors' Fund Home, and the Trinity Community Center.

The Best of Times - The Music of Jerry Herman is a tribute to Broadway composer and lyricist Jerry Herman who is known for such iconic shows as "Hello Dolly" and "Mame." Mr. Herman's musical "Milk and Honey" is being revived off- Broadway during the month of October at the Lion Theatre.

The Philhallmonic Society's performances are choreographed and staged by nationally recognized choreographer Sharon Halley.

The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center is located at 111 Amsterdam Avenue between 64th and 65th Streets. Doors open at 2pm. Admission is free and on a first come, first served basis.
