Songwriters Joe Iconis and Michael R. Jackson return to Joe's Pub for a July concert series that highlights the dynamic work of both young talents.

Joe Iconis Fridays, July 10 at 9:30 PM

Rabble-rousing writer Joe Iconis returns to Joe's Pub, bringing with
him his beloved family of musical theater punks. THE Joe Iconis ROCK
AND ROLL JAMBOREE is a laid-back, fired-up evening of Iconis tunes,
featuring new jams, old faithfuls, and glimpses into the future.
Songs of hate and hope, suburbia and pornography, cougars and
jailbait, dead people and livin' things, and more sing-alongs than you
can shake a glass of whiskey at. Some special guests will join Joe
for this, the first leg of his legendary "Mule Mutation" Tour 2009.
So come on down to the Jamboree- it's loud, soft, sweet, nasty, and
above all else, bloody as hell.

Joe Iconis is the recipient of the Ed Kleban Award, a Jonathan Larson
Award, and a 1992 Stratford Elementary School Excellence In Music
Certificate. Joe is the author of THE BLACK SUITS (SPF at the
Public), ReWRITE (Urban Stages), THE PLANT THAT ATE DIRTY SOCKS
(Theaterworks USA), and THINGS TO RUIN (The Zipper, Second Stage
Theater.) Upcoming: THE UNTITLED ROCK AND ROLL SPAGHETTI WESTERN SHOW
(for Ars Nova) and a musical about a guy named Hunter. Joe is
currently on the hunt for theaters that will produce his musicals, a
red tuxedo, and a girlfriend who likes to cuddle. Also performing 7/17
at 9:30 PM, $15

DIRTY LAUNDRY 2.0: THE SONGS OF MICHAEL R. JACKSON
Saturday, July 11 at 7:00 PM
Michael R. Jackson makes his Joe's Pub debut with the help of some
very special guests, following up Michael R. Jackson: Dirty Laundry,
(an evening ‘o song first presented in the Uncharted Series at Ars
Nova) with Dirty Laundry 2.0: The Songs of Michael R. Jackson. If you
weren't at Ars Nova last time, here's all you need to know: Michael
can't get it together. He lives in squalor, he has no job, no
boyfriend, and he owes all of the major credit cards money. He's got
an axe to grind, a joke or two and underwear in need of some serious
washing. Drawing on influences including (but not limited to) Joni
Mitchell, Tori Amos and Liz Phair, MJ offers up songs about East
Village orgies, fair weather friends, and the power of MC Hammer pants
in Dirty Laundry 2.0: an exciting, new, brutally intimate, and darkly
humorous spinning song cycle.

Michael is a graduate of the New York University Tisch School of the
Arts Musical Theatre Writing Program. He was won no fancy-pants
awards, received no accolades, and has been offered no synergistic
branding opportunities. He has however written book and/or lyrics for
the musicals Only Children (LCT Director's Lab, NYU Undergraduate Main
Stage) and Menu (in development). He is currently working with
director Maria Goyanes on a musical formerly known as Fast Food Town
but until further notice, referred to as Untitled-Of-Show. $12
