The Edge Theater Welcomes New Associate Artistic Director

The Edge Theater in Lakewood is pleased to announce the appointment of Warren Sherrill as Associate Artistic Director. Mr. Sherrill was cofounder of Denver's critically acclaimed Paragon Theatre and served as its Artistic Director until 2012.

"After six seasons of progressive growth, we found it necessary to build a stronger infrastructure that will enable us to take the theater even further," said Rick Yaconis, Executive and Artistic Director of The Edge Theater. "I look forward to working closely with Warren to ensure The Edge continues to build upon its early success and to solidify its place as one of the premier theaters in Colorado."

Mr. Sherrill studied Performing Arts at Colorado State University and recently directed The Edge Theater's well-received productions of Medea and Jerusalem, Phamaly's Baby with the Bathwater and Avenue Theater's critically acclaimed Equus. He was last seen on stage in Ashton Entertainment's production of The Seafarer for which he was nominated for a Colorado Theatre Guild Henry Award for Best Supporting Actor. Other memorable roles include Ashton in Harold Pinter's The Caretaker, Max in Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing (also nominated for a Henry for Best Supporting Actor) and Jess in Jez Butterworth's The Night Heron. He is currently performing in the Edge's production of Casa Valentina. Among other awards, Mr. Sherrill won the 2007 Henry Award for Best Director of a Play for Paragon's Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf and in 2011 was awarded Denver Westword's Best Director of a Drama for Paragon's The Sound of a Voice.

The Edge Theater began in 2010 under the management of Executive and Artistic Director Rick Yaconis and his wife, Patty Yaconis, who is the Managing Director of the theater as well as the chair of the newly formed Edge Artistic Council. Mr. Yaconis is a business executive with over 30 years of experience in leadership and education. This experience, combined with his strong passion for theater and the arts, as well as his own education which combines an undergraduate degree in theater with an MBA, enables him to execute on the plan ensuring that the Edge Theater Company continues to be recognized as a premier theater in Colorado with a focus on quality, integrity, versatility, creativity, and fiscal efficiency.
