The Civilians, New York's award-winning investigative theatre company, is back at Joe's Pub on February 3rd with their latest installment of Let Me Ascertain You: Sex Variants 1941.

Directed by Steven Cosson, the cabaret will feature performances by Tim Acito, César Alvarez, Kate Buddeke, Dan Domingues, Nina Hellman, Trey Lyford, Grace McLean, Nedra McClyde, Brandon Miller, Everett Quinton, Dito Van Riegersberg, Max Vernon, Alison Weller and Colleen Werthmann. The evening will also include original music composed by Tim Acito, César Alvarez, Maggie-Kate Coleman and Erato A. Kremmyda, Michael Friedman, Andrea Grody, Grace McLean, Jill Sobule, and Max Vernon.

In the 1940s, Dr. George W. Henry of Cornell University interviewed over 200 people about their sex lives, incessant bed-wettings, and psychotic aunts in one of the earliest "scientific" surveys of sexual deviancy titled "Sex Variants" published in 1941. The Civilians transforms these stories into a provocative, pansexual cabaret of monologues and songs about first times, dreamy fantasies and excessive fetishes.
