For the past 16 years, The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance has marked pride month by presenting the Bronx's only consistent gay pride celebration - The OUT LIKE THAT! Festival at BAAD! The festival takes place at BAAD!'s home at 2474 Westchester Avenue from Saturday, June 4 through Wednesday, June 22, 2016 with a fierce line-up of dance, theatre, literature, documentary film and wonderful performances featuring queer artists from the Bronx and beyond. Saturday, June 4 at 8pm/$15, $20
KHARIS COLLINS/THE KJC PROJECT
Bronx-based choreographer, Kharis Collins, premieres a full evening of works with varied dance styles from J-Setting to contemporary, all shedding light on the challenges of life along with love, self-worth and empowerment.

Tuesday, June 7 at 7pm / Free
FULLY ALIVE: Lesbian Writers and Their Paths to Publication
Celebrated writers Sarah Schulman and Alexis De Veaux share space with emerging writer Divya Sood to read work, discuss their paths to publishing and why they tell the stories they write.

Friday, June 10 at 8pm / $15, $20
MOVING MEN: Alberto Cortes, William Ervin, Erick Montes and Yon Tande
From fluid movement to mind-stirring performance choreographers Alberto Cortes, William Ervin, Erick Montes and Yon Tande offer journeys into queer masculinities and other spaces.

OUT DANCE!
Through the beauty, daring and grace of dance, this shared bill of choreographers express their strength and pride with work by Michael Bishop, Alexandra Bodnarchuk, Jessica Danser, Davi, Shiloh Hodges, Matthew Perez and Randy Reyes.

The eMANcipation Proclamation of GoGo Gadget
Alberto Denis has enjoyed a successful rise to prominence in the international burlesque scene through his alter ego of GoGo Gadget, and this evening length voyage delves towards a deeper understanding and visceral feeling of beauty told through monologue, dance, projections, storytelling, humor, and vulnerable exposure - mentally, emotionally, as well as physically. Directed by David Drake and performed by Alberto Denis, Jordan Holland and Jeff Sykes.

MALA MALA hosted by BARBRA HERR
Directed by Antonio Santini and Dan Sickles, this documentary is about the power of transformation told through the eyes of 9 trans-identifying individuals in Puerto Rico. Celebrated transperformer Barbra Herr will host the evening, lead a post-show talk and perform a number or two to bring live flavor to the evening.

WHAT YOU SEE AIN'T ALWAYS WHAT YOU GET!
Young, vibrant, challenging choreographers Anthony Williams, Anthony Wash Rosado, and Johnny Cruise Mercer share the stage with BAAD!'s Arthur Avilés (who put a solo on dancer Jonathan González) in a sassy, sexy and thematically charged evening of short works.

FILIP A. CONDEESCU'S
THE BLOCKAGE WILL BE KILLERIZED...
Filip A. Condeescu, BAAD!'s Artist-in-Residence, presents a full evening of group contemporary dance works about a strayed artist's homecoming that is also a collection of stories of breaking through blockages and "stuck-ages" through will-power, hope, love and the unbound potential of compassion and companionship.

FABxBAAD!
FAB (Fourth Arts Block) collaborates with BAAD! to present a dance salon with audience feedback of new work by four choreographers including Gilbert Reyes, Linda La, BS Movement and Arrie Davidson.

Crowned "a funky and welcoming performance space" by The New York Times, BAAD! is a performance and workshop space that presents cutting-edge works in dance and all creative disciplines empowering to women, Latinos and people of color and the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer) community. BAAD! is home to Arthur Avilés Typical Theatre (AATT) and the Bronx Dance Coalition which produces The Bronx Dance Magazine and was founded by Arthur Avilés and Charles Rice-González in 1998 in Hunts Point. BAAD! moved to Westchester Square in October 2013 to a gothic revivalist building on the grounds of St. Peter's Church.

BAAD!/AATT receive support from The NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, The Lambent Fund of the Tides Foundation, The Rockefeller Brothers Fund, The SHS Foundation, The Mertz Gilmore Foundation, The New York State Council on the Arts, and private donations.
