The Brick Theater Inc. presents THE SKYPE SHOW or SEE YOU IN AUGUST, January 11th- February 9th 2014. Skype calls from New York to Amsterdam have never been so rock and roll.

THE SKYPE SHOW or SEE YOU IN AUGUST is a new transmedia musical written and performed over Skype by two artists torn apart by visa regulations.

In November of 2010, Jody Christopherson and Michael de Roos formed the indie-folk-beatbox-rock band Greencard Wedding in Crown Height Brooklyn. In December of 2012, Michael's visa ran out and Jody and Michael discovered they couldn't harmonize over Skype. But they could write a play. And music. . . and maybe get an artist visa. The Skype Show is an exploration of the ways technology can enable us to transcend boundaries, uniting artists with each other and their audience. The Skype Show received its world premiere in the 17th annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC this past August to sold out houses and critical acclaim. Frisian Wedding cake served at every show. Based on real Skype calls between New York and Amsterdam. (Performed in English.)

BIOGRAPHIES:

MICHAEL DE ROOS (Michael/ composer) is an actor/musician based in Holland. He studied at the Academy for Comedie (KoningstheaterAkademie) and at the Actors Studio Paul Dekker (Meisner) in Holland. Michael moved to New York to study with Maggie Flanigan at the Maggie Flanigan Studio (Meisner) and dance at Dance New Amsterdam. NYC: Phases (by Rachel Carey), Frankenstein The Musical (Mt. Carmel Theatre), Eschaton Cabaret (Bowery Poetry Club, Dixon Place), The Little Prinsinn. TV: Deadly Sins, Celebrity Ghost Stories, PX This (web series). Currently he plays the lead in a new Dutch crime series Chantage and recently played one of two leads in the Gent Film Festival movie "Follow" in a short called "f-ing Gent". JODY CHRISTOPHERSON (Jody/ playwright/lyricst/ video design) is a performer, writer. Her work as an actress has been seen at: The Kitchen, Lincoln Center, Ensemble Studio Theater, the Public Theater, PS122, the Humana Festival, Classic Stage Company, the Bushwick Starr, Bowery Poetry Club, Philadelphia Shakespeare, Nebraska Rep, As a theater maker she has been awarded grants from Philadelphia Shakespeare, Bowery Arts and Sciences, commissions from Blue Box productions and the Exquisite Corpse Film Festival (official selection and award winner 2011). Jody is a blogger for The Huffington Post and the editor and creator of New York Theatre Review, an indie media source for indie theater.

DAVID ANZUELO (Unka Dave/composer/ lyricist (on video)) is a NYC based actor/fight-director/singer-song-writer who has been photographed by the late Bill Costa; painted by George Towne and cited in performance artist Penny Arcade's book Bad Reputation. He has appeared in feature films such as Reservation Road; Prime; Remember Me; You Won't Miss Me and Man of the Century. TV credits: Blue Bloods; Law & Order; One Life to Live; Law & Order: SVU; The Sopranos; Missing Person; The Untouchables. He's fronted two bands in NYC: the Texas Goth-Rock band MonsterRally and the spooky folk trio CaveHound. Other musical collaborations include: The Gotham Roots Orchestra; Izzi Ramkissoon; and now Greencard Wedding. He is a member of Labyrinth Theater Company; an associate artist at INTAR Theater and a founding member of (Your Name Here): A Queer Theater Company. His work as a fight-director can be regularly seen on many off-broadway stages in NYC.

ERIKA ROBEL (Claire) is an actress and a writer. Her work as an actress in NYC has been seen at TheatreLab, The Kitchen, The Brick, and 13th Street Repertory, among others. NATALIE JOHNSONIUS NEUBERT (Director/Sound Designer) is a New York-based director, performer, and curator. She has worked with such companies as Target Margin Theater, Performance Space 122, Galapagos Art Center, Ensemble Studio Theater, The Culture Project, Nashville Shakespeare Festival, The Ohio Theater, The New York Public Library, the New York Botanical Gardens, as well as at the Bridge Lane Theatre in London. She received a Bachelors of Arts degree from Sarah Lawrence College with concentrations in music and theatre; and is currently finishing her Master of Fine Arts degree (also at Sarah Lawrence College) with a focus on directing devised theatre. She received a bachelors degree from Sarah Lawrence College with concentrations in music (piano and saxophone) and theatre (acting and directing).

DEREK WRIGHT (Lighting Designer) designs lighting (and occasionally scenery) for theatre, dance, opera and special events. He has designed over 150 unique theatrical projects. His design work was part of the USA exhibit at the 2011 Prague Quadrennial and the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. BERIT JOHNSON (Production Stage Manager) has been working in Indie Theater in NYC since 1996. Starting out primarily as a stage manager and prop builder, she has gradually branched out into production, design, and most recently, playwriting. She has worked primarily with directors Daniel McKleinfeld, Edward Einhorn, Frank Cwiklik, and her partner, Ian W. Hill, who she joined as the co-director of his company, Gemini CollisionWorks, in 2001. She and Mr. Hill have been the technical directors of The Brick since 2007.

GREENCARD WEDDING (Co Producer - Jody Christopherson and Michael de Roos) is an indie folk beatbox rock duo from Omaha Nebraska and Lieden, Netherlands that originated in Crown Heights Brooklyn, NY. The band plays original music in Dutch (with English subtitles) and in English (no subtitles). Their music is an eccentrically theatrical combination of Dutch beatbox, acoustic guitar and tight vocal harmonies. All performances include Wedding Cake, as well as other wedding party favors such a garters, bubbles and a set list t-shirt worn by one lucky audience member. Venues played include: Ella Lounge, Dixon Place, The LES Music Festival, INTAR Theater's Roots and New Music Festival, The Parkside Lounge and more.
