According to Variety, the current London hit The 39 Steps will be presented as the 2007-2008 season opener at the Huntington Theater Company in Boston before transferring to Broadway in a production directed by Maria Aitken.

The pre-Broadway engagement (a New York theatre and dates have yet to be announced) will play the Huntington Theatre Company from September 14th through October 14th.

"Best known as Hitchcock's 1935 thriller and based on a book by John Buchan, The 39 Steps has been playing sell-out shows at the Criterion since transferring from the Tricycle Theatre. Patrick Barlow's comedic adaptation contains every single scene from Hitchcock's movie, including the first theatrical bi-plane crash ever staged and the well-known 'stockings and suspenders' scene," state press notes on the show.

The 39 Steps is playing through September, 15 2007 at the Criterion Theatre in London.

The Huntington's season will also include Ronan Noone's Brendan, Sinan Unel's The Cry of the Reed, Wendy Wasserstein's Third, Conor McPherson's Shining City, the classic Bock and Harnick musical She Loves Me and David Rabe's Streamers.
