As reported by BroadwayWorld, American theatre lost one of its glass-ceiling breaking innovators yesterday when composer/lyricist/director Elizabeth Swados passed away at age 64.

Best known for her Broadway hit RUNAWAYS, for which she received Tony nominations for her book, score, direction and choreography, Swados was known for writing issue-oriented theatre pieces and composing scores for plays and films that reflected emerging musical styles.
