Yesterday, Broadway legend Elaine Stritch passed away at age 89. Stritch is perhaps most famous for her performance in the 1970 Sondheim musical COMPANY in which she immortalized the now-famous song "The Ladies Who Lunch." Stritch earned five Tony nominations with one win, and eight Emmy nominations, winning three. She most recently won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance as Colleen Donaghy in the popular NBC series "30 Rock." Last Saturday marked the 16th annual Broadway Barks event in Shubert Alley. The event was founded by Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters, and since its founding has allowed for the adoption of hundreds of cats and dogs in the New York City area. Participating stars this year included Zach Braff, Audra McDonald, Andy Karl, and many more. Click here to see more photos!

Tony Nominee Andrew Rannells ("The Book of Mormon," "Girls") has big heels to fill starting on August 20th, when he takes over the title role in this year's Best Musical Revival HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH. Hedwig is currently being played by Neil Patrick Harris, who won a Tony for the role. Rannells will star alongside Tony winner Lena Hall, who is currently playing Yitzhak in the revival. Tony Nominee Malcolm Gets ("Amour," "The Story of My Life") recently previewed his upcoming concert at 54 Below entitled COME A LITTLE CLOSER. This will be Gets' debut at 54 Below and will featured music from more classical Broadway composers such as Rodgers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, and many more. Gets claimed that he most likely will not be singing anything written during this century for his concert debut. Click here to see more of the concert's preview!

BROADWAY IN BRYANT PARK is a series of free concerts performed in Bryant Park on six consecutive Thursdays in the summer. Last Thursday marked the second concert in the summer series, and it featured the casts of Broadway's CHICAGO, LES MISERABLES, PIPPIN, and more. Click here to see more coverage of the concerts!

Kristin Chenoweth ("Wicked," "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown") recently performed in concert at the Royal Albert Hall, earning multiple standing ovations throughout the night. The tiny powerhouse was joined by several special guests including Kerry Ellis, Alison Jiear, and Peter Lockyer. Click here to see more exclusive coverage of this special event!

PAGEANT - THE MUSICAL took its first bow Off-Broadway after a sold-out run this February that benefitted Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The show officially opened this Monday at the Davenport Theatre. The show breaks the fourth wall during each performance in that the audience gets to select the winner of the fictional pageant each night. Click here to see more photos of opening night!

The off-Broadway production of THE LONG SHRIFT officially opened this week at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre. Written by Robert Boswell and directed by James Franco, the play marks Franco's directing debut. The play tells the story of a boy who was accused of rape and put in jail because of it. This sentence ruins his parents' lives, and the play focuses on the boy's effect on them when he is finally released and resurfaces. Click here to see more photos from opening night!

The 2014 Tony-nominated revival VIOLET, presented through the Roundabout Theatre Company, celebrated its 100th performance this week at the American Airlines Theatre. Starring Sutton Foster, Colin Donnell, and Joshua Henry, the show is scheduled to run through August 10th. Click here to read more about VIOLET!
