America's classic musical comedy is coming back to the wonderful town of New York, New York! ON THE TOWN is set to begin preview performances at Broadway's Lyric Theatre on Saturday, September 20th, with an official opening set for Thursday, October 14th. Currently in rehearsals, the cast, led by Tony Yazbeck, Clyde Alves, and Jay Armstrong Johnson met the press this week. Click here to see more photos of this event!

The Toronto International Film Festival, TIFF, is currently underway, now through September 14th. BroadwayWorld was there for the opening presentation of THE JUDGE, led by Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall. The drama tells the story of a father and son and their poor relationship, and the crisis that may unexpectedly mend their past. Click here to see more photos from the film's opening!

The first national tour of the 2013 Best Musical KINKY BOOTS took off last night, September 4th in Denver. The show will tour throughout the west coast in eight subsequent cities before moving to the east coast in 2015. The production stars Kyle Taylor Parker as Lola, and Steven Booth as Charlie. The company of the Broadway-bound DISGRACED began rehearsals this week in time for previews to begin on September 27th, with an official opening on October 23rd. The cast includes Hari Dhillon, Karen Pittman, Josh Radnor, Danny Ashok, and Gretchen Mol. The play tells the story of a Muslim-American lawyer and his wife and a dinner party that he hosts for a co-worker and his wife. Click here to see more photos from the meet-the-press event!

Two-time Tony winner Christine Ebersole (42nd Street, Grey Gardens) is opening a new 54 Below show this fall entitled BIG NEWS FROM WINNETKA. This marks Ebersole's first new show in two years, as she has been extremely busy starring on the TBS comedy Sullivan & Son. Ebersole previewed her new show this week. Broadway's most magical musical, CINDERELLA, recently welcomed new cast members Keke Palmer, Sherri Shepherd, and Judy Kaye to the Broadway Theatre. Respectively starring as Cinderella, Madame, and the Fairy Godmother, the new cast members are set to begin performances on September 12th. Palmer make her Broadway debut as the first African-American actress to portray Cinderella on Broadway. Click here to see more photos from the press event!

Two-time Tony winner Andrea Martin, who was recently welcomed back to the Music Box Theatre in the Broadway revival of PIPPIN, was honored with a new Pippin portrait on Tony diNapoli's Broadway Wall of Fame. The portrait portrays Martin as Berthe, Pippin's grandmother, alongside current cast members Ciara Renee (The Leading Player) and Kyle Dean Massey (Pippin). This week, BroadwayWorld had the opportunity to meet the cast of the Signature Theatre's production of SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE. Earlier this week, the production team of the 2014 revival of HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH released a new photo of the show's powerful finale, starring Andrew Rannells in the title role of Hedwig. Joined by Tony Winner Lena Hall and the show's band Tits of Clay, Rannells will star as Hedwig through October 12th at the Belasco Theatre. Click here to read more!

2014 Tony Winner Lena Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) visited Broadway Artists' Alliance's Summer Intensive in a surprise visit to speak with the students. Hall discussed the start of her career, auditioning for Hedwig, and her rock band The Deafening. She is currently starring opposite Tony nominee Andrew Rannells as Hedwig's husband, Yitzhak.
