Studio East has three shows to finish their season that bring new productions and talent to the stage.

The World Premiere of THE MARVELOUS LAND OF OZ, written by Studio East's Samuel J. Pettit, Associate Artistic Director, and Justin Beal, Musical Director, is the tale of what happens after Dorothy leaves Oz and the adventure that ensues. The 19th Annual Summer production is THE WIZARD OF OZ which brings together the community while featuring Kirkland officials and luminaries in this musical treat for the entire family. Finally, a new program brings together a teen ensemble and a directing team of Studio East alumni for URINETOWN.

The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he's had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! Recommended for ages 11+. Adult tickets are $19, while students and seniors are $17. All performances are at the Studio East Mainstage Theater located at 11730 118th Ave NE in Kirkland. Performances run August 12 & 13, with the following show times:

August 13 @ 2:30pm & 7:30pm

The Summer Teen Ensemble Program (STEP) is a newly created summer program that offers a creative team comprised of Studio East Alumni the opportunity to produce a play or musical from pre-production through closing, using the Studio's artistic staff as their advisors and consultants. STEP productions offer older actors, ages 16 - 22, more advanced and mature material to explore, develop and perform.

Studio East Training for the Performing Arts was founded in 1992 to provide theater arts education for young people on the Eastside. It was founded on the belief that through the performing arts children can build confidence, and acquire leadership and teamwork skills while learning discipline, dedication and responsibility. Starting with one theater program for teens, Studio East has become one of the largest children's theater training programs in the Seattle area.

Today, Studio East serves over 70,000 people annually with a comprehensive program of drama classes, theater arts camps, Mainstage productions and live performances for children from ages 3 through 19.
