In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, WALKING DEAD showrunner Scott M. Gimple previewed the highly anticipated midseason finale of the AMC drama series.

In the episode titled 'Too Far Gone,' Gimple promises plenty of gore. "We've seen The Governor kill people to ensure the safety of his new family and we see him determined," he says. "We see Rick is very much back as someone with a gun on his hip, ready to participate in the brutality of the world to keep his people safe. It's a very explosive situation and it's entirely possible that everybody doesn't make it back. That sort of thing would be something that would affect these characters even more deeply."

Also hinted at is the fate of The Governor, Michonne and Daryl, who will 'all have open wounds after the events of season three.' "Michonne and Daryl will not react well if they were to see The Governor," Gimple cautions, "they're not all the way healed from their experiences with him."

New characters may also be introduced to the series in its typical dramatic fashion. "There is a potential to see them sooner rather than later," the showrunner hints.

The Walking Dead's midseason finale will air this Sunday, December 1 at 9/8c on AMC.
