Schirmer Theatrical is proud to announce the world premiere of François Girard's acclaimed film, The Red Violin, screened with live orchestra, featuring John Corigliano's Oscar-winning score. Internationally acclaimed violinist Lara St. John will appear as soloist with Dina Gilbert, Assistant Conductor of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, at the Festival de Lanaudière in Montreal on July 23rd, 2016.

The 1998 Academy-award winning film traces the mystical power of a violin as it passes through four centuries, impacting the lives of all who fall under its spell. The screenplay was co-written by director François Girard with Don McKellar and the film was produced by Niv Fichman and Rhombus Media Inc.

The world premiere reunites acclaimed film director François Girard and Oscar-winning composer John Corigliano for the first time since the film's 1998 release. Both worked directly on the project, together with Producer Robert Thompson.
