After an acclaimed premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Soho Playhouse announces the extension of the New York Premiere of THE RAP GUIDE TO RELIGION, a new musical written by and starring Drama Desk Award nominee Baba Brinkman (The Rap Guide to Evolution). Directed by Darren Lee Cole, performances of this Off-Broadway premiere, which opened October 10, will now run through December 13 at SoHo Playhouse.

Baba Brinkman is an award winning Canadian rap artist, and playwright. He is also a scholar with a Masters in Medieval and Renaissance English Literature. His thesis drew parallels between the worlds of hip-hop music and literary poetry. After graduating in 2003, Baba began his career as a rap troubadour. To date Baba has written or co-written four hip-hop theatre shows, all of which have toured the world and played at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and off-Broadway. The Rap Guide to Evolution and The Canterbury Tales Remixed both recently played extended off-Broadway runs at the Soho Playhouse. The Rap Guide to Evolution won the prestigious Scotsman Fringe First Award in Edinburgh and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award in New York. Baba also has appearances at several regional TED conferences and a guest performance on The Rachel Maddow Show. For his efforts to improve the public understanding of evolution, he won the NCSE's Friend of Darwin Award in 2013.

THE RAP GUIDE TO RELIGION runs Nov. 1 & 6 at 9:30pm; Nov. 2 at 7:30pm and November 20 - December 13, Thurs. - Sun. at 8PM. (Note: No show Thursday November 27th.)
