John Frankenheimer's nail-biting black-and-white Cold War thriller The Manchurian Candidate is featured in the February Reel 13 lineup.

Based on the 1959 novel by Richard Condon, The Manchurian Candidate is about a former Korean War POW played by Laurence Harvey who is brainwashed by Communists into becoming a political assassin.

Ranked 6th on the American Film Institute's "100 Years...100 Movies" list, the film - which also stars Frank Sinatra, Janet Leigh, and Angela Lansbury -- has also been selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress. Lansbury was recognized with a Golden Globe and Academy Award nomination for "Best Supporting Actress."

The noir thriller "The Postman Always Rings Twice," the Civil War drama "Glory," and the astronaut epic "The Right Stuff" round out the eclectic mix of February Classics.

Roadie, The Good Doctor, Night Catches Us and What Just Happened are the month's independent offerings.

Every Saturday night beginning at 9 p.m., viewers can catch a Hollywood Classic followed by an Indie, with film historian Neal Gabler or Columbia University professor Richard Peña hosting on a film-by-film basis. The evening concludes with a Short film selected by viewers who vote for their favorite of three shorts at Reel13.org.
