TMS The Musical Season UG present the Frankfurt premiere of the smash hit Off-Broadway musical, The Last 5 Years, opening at Kulturhaus Frankfurt on 1 October 2016.
The story explores the five year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hiatt, a struggling actress. Cathy's story is told in reverse chronological order, beginning the show at the collapse of the marriage, and Jamie's is told in chronological order starting just after he has seen Cathy for the first time. The characters meet only once at their wedding in the middle of the show as their timelines briefly intersect.
The Frankfurt premiere of this enthralling pop musical from the Tony Award-winning writer behind Parade and Songs for a New World, Jason Robert Brown, is inspired by Brown's own failed marriage to Theresa O'Neil. It premiered at Chicago's Northlight
Theatre in 2001 and was then produced Off Broadway in March 2002. Since then it has had numerous productions both in the United States and internationally. A film adaptation
starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan was released in February 2015. This production is presented by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Limited on behalf of Music Theatre International of New York.

TMS The Musical Season is the brainchild of London actress Hannah Grover and her
German partners Anna- Isabel Calzado Leckert and Marina Beermann. Founded in January 2016, this all female Production Company transfers top quality productions with West End actors and creative teams to Frankfurt, and in time, the major cities of Germany. Germany
is crying out for quality year round English speaking musical theatre and TMS has been
overwhelmed with the backing of companies such as BMW, Frankfurt Airport, and the Minister of Culture Prof. Dr. R. Alexander Lorz. TMS will expand the parameters of theatre in Germany.
"German musical theatre is very much limited to glitzy Proscenium Arch theatre which of
course is splendid but I want to show them theatre can and should be performed in a tiny
Studio Theatre, a pie shop, someone's front room....and with this shift theatre in Germany
will become more accessible and much less elitist..." Hannah Grover
The TMS philosophy strongly supports fair pay for performers. The next season is planned
for Spring 2017.
