2016 will likely be remembered for two things: the year Australia held the longest and most inarguably boring election campaign, AND the year Australia discovered Paul Culliver.

After taking out the Best Comedy award at Perth Fringe World, becoming a presenter and producer on ABC Radio and performing to sold-out houses around the country, Culliver is bringing his political savvy and wicked wit to the Melbourne Fringe.

Paul Culliver's star is clearly on the rise. His "wicked intellectual depth" (Herald Sun) has only gotten sharper from his experiences of touring and working inside the media at 774 ABC Melbourne and ABC Victoria. The Honeypot is the perfect vehicle for his particular brand of intelligent and witty Paul-McDermott-meets-Wil-Anderson comedic social commentary.

The Honeypot is an hour-long, tongue in cheek investigation into privilege. It plumbs the darkest depths of straight-white-male experience. From hung parliaments to anti-vaxxers and back again, this is a show that is current, informed, irreverent, acerbic and unmissable.

"In creating this show, I wanted to be able to talk about all different kinds of diversity in society, but that's not something I was going to get away with easily. I realised that exploring all those things through the prism of my own privilege was the loophole I needed." says Culliver, "Both in my work, and my life, I am on a quest to become the least problematic straight white middle class man that I can be. At least that's what I'll say if anyone asks", he says, semi seriously.

Paul Culliver's innate understanding of news and current affairs often sees him behind the microphone on ABC and across his podcast network, Mammoth Audio. He took out the top gong of Best Comedy at the 2016 Perth Fringe World, followed by a sold out season at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

This will be Melbourne's final chance to catch this The Honeypot, in the intimate environs of Belleville, a 35 seat pop up venue in the CBD. Bookings highly recommended.
